기아, 뉴욕 오토쇼서 '더 뉴 텔루라이드' 공개

‘더 기아 콘셉트 EV9’·‘디 올 뉴 기아 니로’ 전시

[화이트페이퍼=최창민 기자] 기아는 13일(현지시각) 미국 뉴욕 제이콥 재비츠 컨벤션 센터에서 열린 '2022 뉴욕 국제 오토쇼'에서 '더 뉴 텔루라이드'를 공개했다.

지난 2019년 디트로이트 오토쇼에서 처음 공개된 텔루라이드는 ‘월드 카 어워즈’에서 '2020 세계 올해의 자동차'를 수상하고, ‘2020 북미 올해의 차’ 유틸리티 부문에서 선정되는 등 뛰어난 디자인과 넓은 실내 공간, 높은 실용성과 강력한 주행 성능 등으로 호평을 받은 기아의 북미 전용 SUV 모델이다. 이번에 공개된 ‘더 뉴 텔루라이드’는 3년 만에 선보인 텔루라이드의 첫 부분 변경 모델이다.

이 밖에도 기아는 이번 뉴욕 오토쇼에서 ‘디 올 뉴 기아 니로’도 미국 시장에 처음 선보였다. 지속가능한 모빌리티를 위한 기아의 비전이 담긴 전용 친환경 SUV 모델 신형 니로는 스마트스트림 G1.6 하이브리드 탑재로 높은 복합연비를 달성하고 환경 친화적인 소재와 기술 등이 적용됐다.

기아는 ‘더 기아 콘셉트 EV9’도 전시했다. 콘셉트 EV9은 EV6에 이어 기아의 차세대 전기차 라인업에 추가될 예정인 EV9의 콘셉트 모델이다. 기아의 미래 모빌리티 비전이 담긴 대형 전동화 SUV다.

EV6와 마찬가지로 기아의 전기차 전용 플랫폼 E-GMP를 기반으로 하며 기아의 디자인 철학 오퍼짓 유나이티드를 반영한 조화로운 디자인, 주행·정차 상황에 따라 시트 방향을 바꿀 수 있는 세 가지 실내 모드, 자연의 요소에서 영감을 받은 색상과 지속가능한 자원을 활용한 소재 등이 특징이다.
